Capsule Pod Boutique Hostel

Singapore

Upper Cross Street puts this capsule hotel right in Chinatown. The heritage centre and Sri Mariamman Temple are a few minutes away on foot, and the MRT is close.

Pods come with side or front entry, so you can choose how you climb in. Bedding is a step above the basics: thick cotton sheets, a proper duvet, a heavy towel. Lockers open with a key card.

Not everyone travels alone. Family rooms with two double beds and a private toilet sit alongside the pods. A shared kitchen and self-service laundry help on longer stays.

Cabin & Capsule Hotel J-SHIP Osaka Namba

Osaka, Japan

Step out of JR Namba Station's south exit and you are almost at the door. The airport bus terminal is close as well, which makes J-SHIP an easy first or last night in Osaka.

Two formats share the building. Capsules are the classic stacked pods; cabins give a little more standing room. Men and women sleep on separate floors.

Downstairs, public baths are the reward after a long day. Nightwear, towels and slippers are provided. Dotonbori's lights are a short walk north.

Capsule & Spa Grand Sauna Shinsaibashi

Osaka, Japan

This is a capsule hotel built around a bathhouse. Sauna, steam room and an open-air bath take up as much thought as the sleeping floors. Many guests come for the water first.

The location is hard to beat. Dotonbori is just around the corner, and both Namba and Shinsaibashi stations are within a short walk. Late arrivals are routine here.

Pods are simple, with a small screen and blackout curtain. A restaurant on site and massage on request round things out. It is a very Osaka way to spend a night.
