About

Sertyub is a small, independent hotel index. It covers four categories and nothing else: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels.

Why four categories

Each one describes a hotel built around a single idea. Art hotels put a collection or a building's history at the centre. Capsule hotels shrink the room and invest in everything around it. Casino hotels combine a stay with a gaming floor, shows and dining. Ice hotels are rebuilt from frozen water every winter.

Keeping the list narrow keeps it honest. Every entry can be written up properly instead of skimmed.

How entries are written

Each hotel gets a few paragraphs of plain prose. They cover the setting, what makes the property distinct and what a stay is broadly like. Facts are kept general and true to character. Where a detail changes often, such as rates or opening dates, we leave it out.

There are no star ratings, no scores and no guest reviews. We do not take bookings or payments.

Independence

No hotel in this index has paid to appear, and none has approved its write-up. Names belong to their owners. If something is out of date, the contact page explains how to tell us.
